Yoshinori: Chongqing can Draw Experience From Japanese Hot-spring Industry

By Parker Walker

According to Professor Yoshinori, the Japanese people have a long tradition of hot-springs culture and often go to hot-springs--- it is part of normal life for most Japanese.  At the First International Symposium on Hydrotherapy and Climatotherapy Tourism in China today, he explained further that the reason for the benefits of hot-springs is due to the fact that it is an immersive bath as opposed to a shower, as taken by most Americans, and that the immersion of the bath has many therapeutic properties.  These include temperature, PH value, and stress relief.

The effects are both physical and mental, he explained further, with one of the most important effects being the stress relief that comes from bathing.

The abundant experience of the Japanese onsen (hot-springs) culture can be applied in Chongqing and be used as an example for all of China, and even the world, in how to apply existing science, standards and experience into local conditions.
