Reports: Chongqing Ranks No.7 in China Overseas Online Popularity

iChongqing news  The overseas online popularity of Chongqing is among the top 10 cities in China, the Reports on The  Overseas Online Communication Effectiveness of China Cities 2018, released today in Beijing showing that Chongqing ranking 7th among 338 cities in China, and the No.1 in Western  China.

Top 10 cities in China 

Reports on The  Overseas Online Communication Effectiveness of China Cities 2018  was jointly released by the New Media Communication Research Center of  Beijing Normal University, the R&D Center of Guangming Daily News, and the Chinadaily.com. They analyzed  338 major China cities on Google, Twitter, and Youtube, on how they viewed by overseas. They took Shanghai, the top 1 city as 100 points, and the rest followed.

Chongqing grows up quickly 

The cities in the east coastal areas enjoy a fast rise in oversea's online communication effectiveness, while the inland cities are much slower. Chongqing is the only inland city ranking the top 10.

The report shows that the most frequent search words in Google from the top 5 cities, Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, Guangzhou, Hangzhou, are open, international, new, trade, world, which are highly related to the open-up. Meanwhile, the top 5 are the most internationalized, economically well-developed, and opened-up cities in China.

Tourism is an effective way to attract online audience

Some cities benefit from the tourism-driven media strategy. The reports show that Ali district, a perfect place for car tour in  Tibetan, is popular on Youtube, thanks to the local government focusing on the tourism industry. Some international travelers upload their trip videos on Youtube, attracting more visitors to come.
