Chongqing - The press conference of 2019 Chongqing Tongliang Native Custom Marathon (abbreviated as Culture-Themed Marathon below) launched on January 31. The event will invite participants to feel parts of customs in Tongliang District at the same time. In the meanwhile, it indicated that the activity contained half and the short-range marathon of the competition at the conference. Additionally, the competition will begin on March 24 this year, from 8:30 in the morning.

The continued Culture-Themed Marathon
Located the western Chongqing, Tongliang District embraces a rich cultural heritage. The city integrates the culture of ancient towns, the war of resistance, scholar and literacy, and so on. Besides, the Western Hot Springs of Chongqing locates Tongliang District.
Meanwhile, dragon dance of Tongliang District is famous in China, and even around the world. It is on the list of the national intangible cultural heritage in China and appeared on many important events. Basically, dragon dance becomes the icon of Tongliang District. Besides, at 6 p.m. EST on December 31st, 2018, the annual countdown at the Times Square of New York kicked off. At the event, the magnificent Tongliang dragon dance impressed the audience and attracted the attention of the world.

Merging the dragon elements into it, the Culture-Themed Marathon will use the track from the city to the lake. The distances of the half-marathon are 21.0975km while the distances of short-range and parent-child marathons are five kilometers. It allows 5,000 participants to sign up for the competition, of which there are 2,000 participants for half-marathon while 3,000 participants for short-range and parent-child marathons.

Moreover, the Culture-Themed Marathon will begin at 8:30 in the morning of March 24. The online registration begins now and will last until 15:00 on February 28. Participants can visit the official website of the Culture-Themed Marathon to sign up, or follow the WeChat of the Culture-Themed Marathon (重庆铜梁原乡风情马拉松赛) to register. The registration fee for half-marathon is RMB 100 while it is RMB 50 for the short-range marathon.

Notes on registration of Culture-Themed Marathon
There are some notes on registration that participants should be noticed.
1. The time of online registration began from January 31 to February 28;
2. Participants for the half or short-range marathon should be over 16 years old (born before March 24, 2003);
3. Participants under 18 years old should keep the statement from their guardians or statutory agents;
4. Participants for parent-child groups of the short-range marathon must include a guardian of over 20 years old (born before March 24, 1999) and a child or teenager under 13 years old (born after March 24, 2006);
5. People with the following conditions are not recommended to participate in the race: congenital or rheumatic heart disease/hypertension or cerebrovascular disease/ myocarditis or other cardiac diseases/coronary artery disease or serious arrhythmia/ diabetes/ pregnancy/ any other high-risk condition.
