Chongqing - The ancient Chongqing had 17 city gates with a complete city wall. However, most of them were demolished due to the expansion of the city. Now, Chongqing has restored the first section (Dingyuan Gate - Linjiang Gate) of the pedestrian footpath construction project of the ancient city walls.

This 960-meter-long section starts from the entrance of Damei City Garden on Minsheng Road. And it ends at the intersection of Beiqu Road and Linjiang Road.

However, there is something different from the usual way of footpath construction. The development organization has commissioned a design company to develop a WeChat official account for tour guiding. Therefore, tourists can scan the QR code for the best experience. Following the WeChat Official Account of “Discover Chongqing Ancient City Wall” (发现重庆古城墙 in Chinese), they can listen to the relevant stories while walking. This official account will offer them the best way to tour the scenic spots (For now, it is only available in Chinese).

Meanwhile, the relevant information about surrounding attractions is also available, such as the nearby Wanglongmen Cable Car Site.

Chongqing will implement the second section of the traditional-style footpath construction this year. It covers Nanji Gate, Jintang Gate and Tongyuan Gate in Yuzhong District.
