Happy Chinese New Year Gala Warmly Welcomed in Maldives

Decorated with red lantern and Chinese knots, the Olympus Theatre has a strong atmosphere of Chinese New Year. Its location is in Male, the capital of Maldives. At 20:30 pm on the evening of February 18 (local time), the “Happy Chinese New Year” gala started there. Meanwhile, it has sent best wishes of the new year to residents in Maldives and Chinese and overseas Chinese here. The sponsor is Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the People’s Republic of China. The organizer is Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development. In the meantime, the joint holders include Chongqing Municipality Foreign Culture Exchange Center, Chongqing Masses Art Centre, and Liangjiang Art Troupe.

The spectacular performances of Chongqing group have attracted the local residences so much. And the state officials and film actors/actresses of the Republic of Maldives also appreciate them. In addition, the spring festival gala has lasted for one and a half hours. It includes dances, vocal music, acrobatics, wushu, magic shows and others alike. Some of them boast Chinese elements and reveal the charm of Bayu region.

Artists from China and Maldives performed Mo Li Hua, a folk song, and a magic show in an interactive way. They have pushed the atmosphere of the site to the peak.

The dance Lofty Mountains and Flowing Water is one of the highlights throughout the spring festival gala. It was the winner of the Gold Award of the 28th International Folk Dance Festival. It also won the Star Award of the Ministry of Culture and the Lotus Award of China National Dance Competition.

The spring festival gala this year takes the integration of culture and tourism as the main line. Thus, before the start, it displayed the promotional video of Chongqing’s cultural and tourism image. The performers also interacted with the audiences to promote the picturesque landscape, cultural customs, and fast-changing city construction of Chongqing.
