On February 19, Chongqing convened the Symposium of Information and Communication Industry Development and Technology Innovation. According to the symposium, Chongqing will vigorously promote the pilot application and industrial development of 5G this year.
1,000 5G base stations
Chongqing is one of the six pilot cities to launch the first batch of 5G networking projects in China. China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom will carry out the project simultaneously. And Chongqing has passed the signal testing in connected regions and realized the networking construction. China Telecom, China Mobile and China Unicom are conducting 5G networking trials and preparations for commercial 5G in Chongqing intensively. Meanwhile, all of them have carried out joint innovation test on 5G in the field of Internet of Vehicles (IoV).
Chongqing will construct 1,000 5G base stations in 2019
A relevant leader in Chongqing Communication Administration introduced the development trend. And Chongqing will vigorously promote the pilot application and industrial development of 5G this year. Besides, it also plans to build 1,000 base stations of 5G in 2019.
Create a series of 5G application scenarios
This year, Chongqing will also accelerate the application innovation of 5G and form demonstration effects to drive large-scale development. Thus, it will create a series of 5G application scenarios. Chongqing can develop 5G applications such as high-speed network access, high-definition video surveillance, AR/VR and edge computing. And it can be applied to urban environmental protection, transportation, manufacturing, agriculture, tourism, education, health care, security, and energy.

China Mobile will launch a 360-degree VR real-time immersion experience project at the Yangtze River Cableway. Chongqing Passenger Cableway and Huawei will also participate in the project. Trial operation of the project will begin this March at the soonest.
Strengthen the manufacturing of 5G core components
This year, Chongqing will focus on the development of 5G core component manufacturing industry and related industries about 5G antenna feeders. It will also boost the development of 5G-related filters, micro-sound devices, and optoelectronic device industries. Besides, it will highlight the 5G new intelligent terminal industry and medium- and high-end industries of the Internet of Things (IoT). Meanwhile, it will actively introduce and cultivate a number of 5G network equipment manufacturers.
Chongqing will focus on the development of 5G core component manufacturing industry and related industries about 5G antenna feeders
The emphasis is on the development of such core chips as terminal baseband chips and drone baseband chips. In the related industries about 5G antenna feeders, it will center on the R&D and production of 5G terminal antennas. Terminal antenna feeders of other emerging consumer sectors are also the focus. Core areas have the priority in developing the 5G new intelligent terminal industry and medium and high-end industries of IoT. For example, 5G intelligent terminal, connected drone, MR, intelligent and connected vehicle, industrial Internet terminal, cloud robot, and other industries. The above-stated core areas include Liangjiang New Area, Nan’an District, Shapingba District, and so on.
