The First Using of 5G Networks: Live Broadcast of 2019 Chongqing International Marathon

2019 Chongqing International Marathon will kick off at Nanbin Road, Nan’an District on March 31. According to China Unicom Chongqing Branch (Chongqing Unicom), it will take the lead in using the foremost 5G networks technology and delivering a live broadcast of the Marathon. Currently, it is the first time to use 5G in broadcasting the marathon in China.

Chongqing Unicom, together with Chongqing Television, will be the first to deliver a live broadcast of the marathon by using 5G networks. Moreover, we can transmit high-definition videos and realize delay-free conversation connections through 5G networks.

The first usage scenario in the event

Besides, Chongqing International Marathon will also deploy multi-channel 5G and professional VR equipment for collecting on-site panoramic video information. Meanwhile, the 45 Unicom base stations of 5G covering the runway will return the VR video source immediately. Therefore, citizens can watch live streaming through the TV. In addition, they can also experience the VR panoramic stereo live broadcasts on the spot. The technology enables the audience to experience the passion of marathon.

Moreover, Chongqing Unicom is one of the sponsors of the marathon. 90 runners can join in the 5-kilometer mini-marathon initiated by it. The places are available to the public free of charge. You can follow the WeChat official account “unicom_cq (重庆联通)” to sign up online. Furthermore, the deadline for registration is March 1. The final list of Unicom Runners will be released on March 3.
