Chongqing-Vietnam freight trains run on the first route of international railway transport of New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor (ILSTC). Departing from Chongqing Tuanjie Village Railway Central Station in Shapingba District, the train will pass Nanning of Guangxi. Then, it will reach Hanoi in Vietnam via Pingxiang Port.

Yuxinou (Chongqing) Logistics Co., Ltd. serves as the operator. According to its statistical data, the trains to Vietnam have completed 55 runs during the nine months since March 2018. Six of them depart from Chongqing and the rest are returning ones.

In the first half of 2018, each month would see orders receiving of more than 40 containers. As of this February, the number has increased to over 40 each week.
Chongqing becomes a transit hub for economy and trade
Opening early last year, the international railway freight train to Vietnam has reached the inland center of the Indochina Peninsula. Thanks to that, major companies in Vietnam have known “Chongqing”.
Qi Dan acts as the general manager of Yuxinou (Chongqing) Supply Chain Management Co., Ltd. He said, “The opening of Chongqing-Vietnam trains has enriched the international multimodal transport mode. Moreover, the northward Silk Road Economic Belt has achieved the connection with the southward 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. And there is a seamless link with China-Indochina Peninsula Economic Corridor to the south as well. The in-depth integration will promote the bilateral trade and cultural exchange between Chongqing and Vietnam and even the Indochina Peninsula. In this way, Chongqing will become an economic and trade transit hub.”
Qi Dan introduces that the Logistics Company has enhanced its cooperation with Vietnamese railways. The close cooperation has made it realize the “one-stop” connection of the whole supply chain through the “Europe-Chongqing-Southeast Asia” Railway.
Chongqing plans to open the international railway freight train to Vientiane
The goods, through the train, depart from Chongqing and arrive in such ASEAN countries as Singapore via the Beibu Gulf, Guangxi. This route will save about 10 days than the traditional one to the sea via the eastern region.
Qi Dan said, “The line-to-network ILSTC, from Europe-Asia connection to worldwide influences, will enhance the connectivity among countries. Additionally, it also strives to expand more space for the ‘Belt and Road’ Initiative.”
With the opening of the China-Laos Railway in 2021, Yuxinou plans to launch the Chongqing-Yunnan-Vientiane international railway freight train. It aims to provide another logistics channel for Chongqing’s international trade. Furthermore, it will facilitate the trade between Chongqing and the Indochina Peninsula.
