Inland ecological demonstration new area

As the first national development new zone of inland China, Chongqing Liangjiang New Area has been including the construction of inland ecological demonstration new area into its strategic planning. Last year, the Area focused on the construction of 15 large-scale parks. In that way, the new green area reached 2 million square meters, with the greening rate of 32.08%, the green coverage rate of 42.17%, and green space per capita of 28.16 square meters in built-up areas.

This year, Chongqing Liangjiang New Area plans to invest RMB 800 million in implementing the reuse of reclaimed water project.

After calculation, the scale of reuse of reclaimed water in Liangjiang New Area can be about 105,000 cubic meters per day. The reuse of reclaimed water project will reduce the water pollution load of the Jialing River by more than 3,000 tons per year and reduce the use of running water by about 9 million cubic meters per year, thus achieving good ecological and social benefits. At present, the project is under a preliminary demonstration. Liangjiang New Area plans to start the project in 2019, and complete it in 2021.

Moreover,   Liangjiang New Area combines with the upgrading requirements of “the sponge city”. It plans to renovate a total area of about 380,000 square meters. And that has an estimated total investment of about RMB 1.8 billion. Liangjiang New Area will perform the project in stages and step by step due to its large area and scale.
