The groundbreaking ceremony of Chongqing Intelligent Systems Engineering Vocational College & Huawei (Yongchuan) Joint Technological Innovation Center (hereinafter referred to as “the College” and “the Center” respectively) was carried out on March 18 in Yongchuan District, Chongqing in southwestern China. It marks the settlement of Huawei in this area.

Huawei is a leading global provider of information and communications technology infrastructure and smart devices.

Huawei, as a globally-leading scientific and technological enterprise, has a team of high-end talented people and powerful independent innovation capability. It plays a role as an information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider in spreading its business to every corner of the world. Therefore, the company seldom invests projects outside its headquarters. So why HUAWEI is going to establish the HUAWEI (Yongchuan) Joint Technical Innovation Center in Yongchuan District?

Vocational education project starts the investment attraction

Zhao Dejun, Director of Yongchuan District Education Commission, said: “The primary reason of why the Center can settle down in Chongqing lies in the comprehensive strategic cooperation framework agreement signed between HUAWEI and the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government.” In May 2018, major leaders of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and Chongqing Municipal People’s Government met Ren Zhengfei, President of HUAWEI. At that time, the two parties signed the agreement to deepen cooperation in intelligent terminal manufacturing, smart city, scientific and technological R&D and talent training.

The College & Center covers a total area of 500 mu with the planned total investment of RMB 1 billion. It is worth noting that HUAWEI is supposed to invest RMB 300 million in the Center.

Promote Intelligent Development of Big Data

Zhao thought the College can fully avail itself of HUAWEI’s strengths in talented people, innovation and platform since the Center will be built in the College. Additionally, the company will integrate vocational education resources and build an intelligent industrial base, based on the College and scientific and technological innovation.

He said they planned to bridge the gap between enterprises and vocational colleges next. For instance, the former will build R&D centers and production workshops on campuses. Meanwhile, the latter will introduce classrooms to the former’s workshops. With such efforts, the two parties can realize the integration of production with education.
