Chongqing to Establish China (West) Science and Technology Innovation Center

The consultation meeting convened by the Ministry of Science and Technology and the Chongqing Municipal People’s Government took place in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, and Chongqing is to establish the China (West) Science and Technology Innovation Center.

In the next five years, both sides will strive to build China (West) Science and Technology Innovation Center. Based on this platform, they will make joint efforts to boost Chongqing’s innovation-driven development and high-quality development and to improve the well-being of citizens.

Innovation-driven development led by big data intelligence

Chongqing has been developing intelligent industries such as big data, artificial intelligence, intelligent robots, integrated circuits and software services. As a result, more than 3,000 enterprises of big data intelligence have settled down there, along with innovation platforms.

Both sides will co-hold the Smart China Expo, to facilitate the development of Chongqing’s emerging industries and the transformation and upgrading of traditional industries.

Regional innovation system

Chongqing is taking the initiative to pilot the management system in the national innovation demonstration zone and national high-tech zone. In this way, it aims to create contiguous clusters of innovation resources and mechanisms for interactive development and to advance the technology-industry integration and interaction.

Scientific and technological cooperation at home and abroad

With the rapid progress of the new round of technological revolution and technological revolution, a growing number of countries and regions have reached a consensus to achieve technological opening up and cooperation as well as cross-regional collaborative innovation.

Chongqing has built a partnership with countries including Russia, Ukraine, Hungary, Thailand and Singapore. Therefore, depending on platforms like Chinese-Hungarian Technology Transfer Center (Chongqing) and China-Germany International Technology Transfer Center (Chongqing), it has enhanced the cooperation in technological innovation with the countries along the “Belt and Road”. Meanwhile, with the vigorous implementation of the action plan for military-civilian integration, Chongqing has established an innovation fund of RMB 5 billion for military-civilian integration.

Ecological protection on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River

Moreover, Chongqing, along with provinces and cities on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River and along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, will receive support to improve the regional innovation capacity.

It will also integrate “Green plus” into economic and social development, to0 accelerate the construction of ecological civilization in the Three Gorges Reservoir Region. Additionally, Chongqing will organize and carry out activities for green technology on the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, to boost its green, low-carbon, healthy development.

Livelihood improvement based on technology services

Chongqing is maintaining its focus on implementing the action plan for urban improvement, to facilitate the construction of the smart city. For the rural revitalization strategy, another action plan is under implementation. By doing so, it aims to deepen the rural supply-side structural reform, and speed up the construction of the systems of industries, production and operation for modern agriculture.
