Chongqing – on April 7th, according to statistics from Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, during the three-day holiday of Qingming Festival, the city received a total of 13.6171 million tourists from China and aboard，achieved a total tourism revenue of 10.089 billion yuan.
Hongyadong received 278,000 visitors, it increased by 379.11% compared with the same period last year.
Tourism Revenue rose 35.2% compared with last year
During Qingming Festival, Chongqing had good weather. The tourism industry ran smoothly without an accident.
According to the statistics, during the three-day holiday, 13.6171 million tourists from China and aboard came to Chongqing. The amount of tourists’ growth increased by 12.8% compared with last year; the total tourism revenue was 10.089 billion yuan, and it rose 35.2% compared with last year.
During the Qingming holiday, the city's main passenger stations including railways, waterways, and air have sent a total of 1,946,400 passengers, an increase of 13.48% over the same period last year.
Hongyadong maintained its popularity
During the holiday, the major shopping districts and scenic spots in the downtown area are favored by a large number of tourists. Guanyinqiao, the Business Circle and City Tourist Area received 387,000 tourists, the number increased to 108.06% over the same period last year. Hongyadong received 278,000 visitors, an increase of 379.11%. Yangtze River Cableway received 56,800 tourists, it also grew 26.41%. Ciqikou Ancient Town received 205,800 tourists and an increase of 16.53% compared with last year.
During the Qingming holiday, the rural tour has become an important part of the whole tourism industry. The rural tourism areas such as Tieshanping, Ba`nan Yunzhuan Mountain, Jinyun Mountain, and Nanshan received 48,000 tourists, 80,500 passengers, 23,600 passengers and 298,200 respectively, the amount raised up by 11.6%, 4.3%, 33%, 14% respectively. The other spots in the rural area like Huanggua Mountain in Yongchuan District received 107,900 tourists, the amount increased 26.05%; the Peony Sakura World in Dianjiang County received 92,000 visitors, obtained an increase of 19.02%; Ecological Grand View Garden in Nanchuan District received 116,000 tourists from rural tourism sites. The number of visitors increased by 14.85% compared with last year.
Memorial worships were held in tourism spots
During the Qingming holiday this year, a number of ceremonies such as the memorial worship of the martyr were held in various red scenic spots in the city. 16 scenic spots in the city's Cultural Tourism Commission received a total of 262,300 tourists. There are five revolutionary cultural relics scenic spots have become the hot spots for tourists to visit, which includes Hongyan Revolutionary History Museum, Liu Bocheng Marshal Memorial Hall, Yang Qinggong's Former Residence, Wanzhou Revolutionary Martyrs Cemetery, Zhao Shiyan Martyrs Memorial Hall. The population of tourists achieved accounted for 93.2% of the total number of tourists. Zhang Zizhong Martyrs Cemetery received 0.5 million tourists, it reached an increase of 20%.
