Tencent Commences Construction of Southwest Headquarters in Chongqing

According to the Notice on the Implementation of 2019 Major Municipal Projects, released by the General Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government a few days ago, Tencent will start the construction of the second phase of its southwest data center, as well as its southwest headquarters in Chongqing 2019. The project, with the computing and storage capacities equal to 200,000 servers, will become an important base for Tencent’s business. 

743 annual projects RMB 2.2 trillion

The list of major municipal projects made its debut, including annual construction and preliminary preparation. There will be 743 annual projects with a total investment of around RMB 2.2 trillion, and expectedly, the annual investment completed will reach RMB 345.9 billion. There will be 216 projects in the initial plan with a total fund of about RMB 1 trillion. Those projects cover a variety of fields, such as eco-environment protection, intelligent industry, and major infrastructure.

This year will see the completion of projects including the united microelectronics funded by United Microelectronics Center (UMEC), SK Hynix (Phase II) invested by SK Hynix Semiconductor (Chongqing) Ltd., and the OPPO (Chongqing) Intelligent Ecological Science and Technology Park financed by Guangdong OPPO Mobile Communications Co., Ltd.

The park stands in Chongqing Frontier Science City in Yubei District, and the topping-out ceremony of the main plant (Phase I) kicked off this January. When the main project is up and running in October this year, it will achieve the annual output of intelligent terminal products like mobile phones than 50 million sets.

In addition to the main urban area, Chongqing’s districts and counties will also focus more on big data intelligence.

Furthermore, Tencent will start the construction of the second phase of its southwest data center, as well as its southwest headquarters. After completion, the project, with the computing and storage capacities equal to 200,000 servers, will become an important base for Tencent’s business.

Jingangbei Historical and Cultural Block

With the development of tourism, Chongqing will launch a new batch of municipal tourism projects, and complete a number of scenic areas. Therefore, citizens will have more choices during holidays and festivals.

Jingangbei Historical and Cultural Block

Jingangbei Historical and Cultural Block, Beibei District, offers an ideal destination to those lovers of old Chongqing. Commencing construction this year, the block strives to build itself into a culture and tourism ancient town with the characteristics of Chongqing.

Combined with experience economy, Internet plus, and development of tourism-related products, the project covers an area of about 12.8 hectares and a building area of 51,300 square meters. The second half of 2020 is expected to will be completed and put into operation. In the meantime, the experience area will also be open to the public in advance around the National Day of this year.

Transfusion Technology Center of Chongqing Blood Center

Included into the list, the integrated building of Transfusion Technology Center of Chongqing Blood Center will welcome the completion and operation this year. The project started in the second half of 2016.

The building will be the largest multi-functional modern service combined with blood collecting and supplying, teaching and scientific research in West China. It will then improve the development of Chongqing’s voluntary blood donation and also make more contributions to the health of citizens.

In the main urban area, the Liangjiang Hospital Affiliated to Chongqing University is one of the projects under construction. Situated in Longsheng Modern New City, Liangjiang New Area, it aims to develop into a high-end, intelligent, international grade-III and class-A comprehensive hospital covering medical treatment, teaching, and research.
