12 High-Level Foreign Talents Get Chinese “Green Cards” in Chongqing via the FTZ

Chongqing-According to the Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau, 132 foreign executives in Chongqing have become Chinese permanent residents, getting the Chinese “green cards”, or People’s Republic of China Foreigner’s permanent residence cards. 12 of them are recommended by the office of China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

This year marks the second anniversary of the Chongqing Pilot FTZ. High-level foreign talents working in the Chongqing Pilot FTZ, their spouses and minor children who meet the recognized standards can apply for permanent residence in China directly after being recommended by the Chongqing Pilot FTZ.

Data from the Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau showed that there were 377,950 temporary accommodation registrations from foreigners in the city last year. The top five countries were South Korea, the United States, Japan, Thailand, and Canada.

72-hour visa-free transit

In Chongqing, there were 130 newly-added passengers who got 72-hour visa-free transit. The top five countries are Australia, Finland, the United Kingdom, Germany, and the United States.

On August 1, 2018, Mr. Chen Peiliang and his wife, a Chinese Singaporean couple, obtained their permanent residence identity cards. They represent the first case to be recommended by the Chongqing Pilot FTZ to obtain Chinese green cards since the unveiling ceremony of State Immigration Administration on April 2, 2018.

In July 2017, Exit-Entry Administration Division Chongqing Municipal Public Security Bureau has issued Service Guide of 14 Supportive Exit-Entry Policies and Measures for Building Chongqing into an Inland Opening-up Highland of China. It specifies the application and criteria for permanent residence of high-level foreign talents working in Chongqing Pilot FTZ and their spouses and children under the age of 18.
