Report: Chongqing Ranked No.8 China Destinations for Belt and Road Travelers in 2018

Recently, the China Economic Information Service and Ctrip.com jointly compiled and released the 2018 “Belt and Road” Tourism Big Data Report. In the list of departure destined for the “Belt and Road” countries, Chongqing takes the fifth position nationwide. In the Top 10 destinations of international tourists to China from the “Belt and Road” countries, Chongqing ranks the eighth. The data shows that tourism between Chongqing and the “Belt and Road” countries is flourishing.

Chongqing is famous for its night views.

According to the report, countries along the “Belt and Road” routes have become the top overseas destinations for Chinese visitors. The visitors to these countries and regions has increased from 15.49 million in 2013 to 27.41 million in 2017, with the total growth rate of 77% and the annual average growth rate of 15.34% in the past five years. In 2018, the visitors are estimated to exceed 30 million.

Among those “Belt and Road” countries, Chinese visitors favor Thailand, Vietnam, and Singapore most.

The report also indicates that among the inbound tourists to the eight countries of Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Indonesia, Russia, Cambodia, the Philippines, and the Maldives, those from China accounted for the largest amount.

In building the “Belt and Road”, an increasing number of Chinese visitors select to travel in countries and regions along the routes. Based on the big data of this report, among the Top 20 departure cities for the “Belt and Road” countries, Chongqing takes the fifth position nationwide.

It also shows that ten cities in China, Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chengdu, Chongqing, Nanjing, Kunming, Wuhan, Xi’an, and Hangzhou, are the major places of departure to those overseas destinations.

Meanwhile, as for travelers from the “Belt and Road” countries, Chongqing, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Xi’an, and Wuhan are the top 10 destinations in China.
