B&R International Skills Competition to Kick Off This Month

Chongqing-The Belt and Road International Skills Competition will be held in Chongqing from May 26 to 31, according to the Chongqing Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.

The competition is sponsored by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China, the National Development and Reform Commission, China International Development Cooperation Agency and Chongqing Municipal People's Government. 

As of April 15th, 44 countries and regions and 698 participants have been officially registered. Among them, 33 countries are along the Belt and Road.

18 competition items

Themed on "Skill Cooperation and Common Development", the competition has 18 categories including electronic technology, water treatment technology, automotive technology, freight forwarding, bricklaying, electrical installation, fine woodworking, painting and decoration, plumbing and heating, information network cabling, fashion technology, floristry, bakery, beauty therapy, cooking (western cuisine), hairdressing, health and social care, and restaurant service.

All of these 18 competitions were selected from the six major areas of the World Skills Competition. The technical standards for each item are based on the technical standards of the World Skills Competition. According to the results of the competition, gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded to the top three competitors in each competition item.

25-27 May:  booth setting up

26 May:  registration, venue familiarization, welcome banquet

27 May:  technical work conference, opening ceremony (evening)

28-29 May:  competition

30 May:  grading, closing ceremony (evening)

31 May:  departure

The opening and closing ceremonies include artistic and cultural events as well as technical performances, awards, etc, which will showcase Chinese elements, Chongqing characteristics and the cultural characteristics of participating countries and regions, all reflecting the historical inheritance and significance of the Belt and Road.
