Chongqing - 2019 Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Heads of Region Meeting will be held in Chongqing from May 14 to 16, according to the Information Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government on May 9. The Meeting will be carried out under the theme of Upholding Openness and Inclusiveness for New Opportunities of the SCO Regional Cooperation.

On May 15, 3 major events of the Meeting will take place. First is the Economy and Trade Investment Dialogue Session. The participants will carry out a discussion around the theme of Business and Trade, International Logistic Channel, Cross-Border Online Retailers, and Mutual Investment. The Session aims to help facilitate investment and trade, assisting the cooperation and investment among small and medium enterprises, enhancing the industrial and commercial cooperation and building and benefiting from New International Land-Sea Trade corridor.
The second event is the Beautiful and Magnificent New Silk Road Cultural and Tourism Cooperation and Promotion Meeting. The participants will conduct discussion around the theme of All-For-One Tourism Development, Exploring Tourism Themes, Route Cooperation, Cultural Exchange. The Meeting will shed the spotlight on the beautiful sceneries of each participating cities.
The third one is the Pilot Free Trade Zone Matchmaking and Communication Meeting. The participants will discuss under the theme of Sharing Experience in Constructing and Developing Pilot Free Trade Zones in China and Foreign Countries. The meeting is dedicated to promoting the development of regional economic integration.
After the 3 meetings, the project signing ceremony will be held. A series of cooperation agreements among governments and economic, trade and cultural cooperation projects among enterprises will be signed.

The total area of the participating countries of 2019 SCO Heads of Region Meeting covers 35.11 million km² with a population of 1.947 billion and an economic volume of about USD 16.8 trillion. Around 170 foreign guests will attend the meeting, including delegates from SCO Secretariat and SCO Business Council, official and business delegations led by local leaders of provinces or cities from SCO member states or observer states, SCO ambassadors and diplomats in China. Nearly 200 delegates from 12 domestic provinces, autonomous regions and cities will attend the meeting in Chongqing, including provincial and city leaders from Shandong, Guizhou, Shaanxi, and Hefei.
SCO attaches great importance to regional cooperation. 2019 SCO Heads of Region Meeting provides a multi-side platform for one-on-one communication among SCO member states or observer states, which highlights the advantages of each side and matches the cooperation demands.
