Chongqing Cultural Heritage Expo Opens in SW China

Chongqing-The 4th Chongqing Cultural Heritage and the Time-Honored Brand Expo kicks off in Southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, May 31, 2019. The expo, as a main event of the national Cultural and Natural Heritage Day, in Xiabu Town of Rongchang District, displayed more than 200 heritage handicrafts and time-honored artifacts.

Bamboo artworks

The event lasting to June 9 invites visitors to appreciate folding fans, bamboo curtains, silk paintings, and other craftsmanship, enjoy local delicacies like fish and bean-starch noodles, and experience tea-making and other activities.

"This edition of the expo featured with benefiting the people, public participation and innovation integrated with people's daily lives and serves development, and satisfies people's ever-growing needs for a better life," said a director from the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development.

It is worth mentioning that a creative artworks show will be present at the expo. The artworks highlight China grasscloth, Antao pottery, Chinese flowering crab-apple, and Sichuan Opera. They represent a good demonstration of traditional and fashionable elements by modern designers.

Handicrafts

On Friday, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development designated Xiabu Town of China grasscloth and Antao Town of pottery as characteristic towns of intangible heritage culture in Chongqing. Moreover, Xiabu Town is a scenic area for intangible heritage culture and tourism, combine research and development, processing, production, trading, exhibition, and cultural experiences. Examples of intangible heritage culture include songs, performance, and handicrafts.

The 4th Chongqing Cultural Heritage and the Time-Honored Brand Expo is co-hosted by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Culture and Tourism Development, the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce and the Rongchang District People’s Government.
