5945 Enterprises Newly Registered in Chongqing Pilot Free Trade Zone in H1

Chongqing - In the first half of this year, 5,945 enterprises, including branches, have newly registered in the China (Chongqing) Pilot Free Trade Zone, or CFTZ, accounting for 9.4% of Chongqing municipal total, according to the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce.

The 5,945 newly-registered enterprises had a registered capital of 47.716 billion yuan (about 6.94 billion US dollars), accounting for 13.3% of the municipal total. Moreover, there were 81 foreign-funded enterprises with a registered capital of 143 million US dollars. The Chongqing pilot FTZ attracted 446 projects, and the total amount of contracts (agreements) signed was 71.511 billion yuan.

The advantages of trade and logistics in the pilot FTZ are apparent. In the first six months of the year, there were 2,964 newly registered commercial and trading enterprises as well as transportation enterprises, accounting for 49.9% of the CFTZ registered total. Enterprises such as an airport management company as a joint venture of China and Singapore, Suning Chongqing Smart Industry Park, Belt and Road (Chongqing) Intelligent Experience Hall, and New Energy Vehicle Smart Logistics Industrial Park, etc. have been set up in CFTZ.

The big data industry in CFTZ has developed rapidly, accelerating the industrial transformation Chongqing. In the first half of the year, 1,672 newly registered enterprises, 28.1% of the registered total in CFTZ, were engaged in manufacturing, information transmission, software and information technology services, as well as scientific research and technology services. The Chongqing pilot FTZ attracted projects concerning big data, the internet, and cloud computing. The German EMAG machine assembly and integration base, Tencent Southwest Headquarters, Bosch Industrial Big Data Center, Unisinsight Digital Intelligent Factory, Foxconn Laser and 3D Printer Production Base and so on are in CFTZ.

The Pilot Free Trade Zone actively cultivated industries of culture, tourism, and medical health. In the first six months of this year, 478 new enterprises registered in tourism, health, and social work, culture, sports, and entertainment were added, accounting for 8.0% of the CFTZ registered total. Projects such as the Chongqing Tourism Investment Group Travel Cloud Intelligent Technology Online Comprehensive Service Platform, Liangjiang Marine Culture and Tourism Complex, Jinzhuo Cultural Creative Design Center have improved the quality of life of local people.
