Over 400 Guests Share Views on Automobile and Motor Industry in SW China

Chongqing- More than 400 participants attended the 2019 China (Chongqing) Automobile and Motor Industry Forum in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality on July 31, 2019.

These participants, including the national automobile and motorcycle industry experts and private entrepreneurs, gathered together in Beibei District of Chongqing to share their ideas on promoting transformation and upgrading as well as striving to promote the high-quality development of automobile and motorcycle industry. They discussed the development of the industry and the path of industrial innovation.

This forum consisted of keynote speeches and the roundtable dialogue. Guests shared ideas about how to respond to market competition through innovation, the future development of the modified car market, and how the auto parts market responded to the challenges and impacts of new e-commerce.

The transformation and upgrading focusing on smart electric vehicles

"In the past 33 years, Sokon Group has experienced entrepreneurship in auto parts and mini-car manufacturing, especially for the latter experience in 2015, it achieved a market share of 4 million vehicles," said Zhang Xinghai, vice president of China Civil Chamber of Commerce and Chamber of Commerce and chairman of the Sokon Group. At present, the vehicle group is committed to the transformation and upgrading from traditional cars to smart electric vehicles.

Sokon Group not only established research and development center in Silicon Valley, but also had strategic cooperation with Bosch, Huawei, Berkeley University, etc., and formed several industry-leading technologies such as power battery system, electric drive system and range extender platform in more than three years. 

Jinkang SERES, a subsidiary of Sokon Group, is the only brand in China that has launched a new version of pure electric EV and extended-range electric EVR. Moreover, in order to meet the customized needs of users, Sokon Group also invested 4 billion yuan and built a big data intelligent factory with an annual production capacity of 100,000 vehicles in Liangjiang New Area.

Supporting Chongqing to build a test demonstration area for intelligent-networked vehicles

Chen Chunmei, a deputy researcher at the Automotive Division of Equipment Department of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, said that the current development of new energy vehicles in China is good. In 2018, China's new energy vehicle production and sales increased by 55.9% and 61.7% year on year respectively, ranking first in the world for four consecutive years, and the entire production and sales volume accounted for nearly half of the world’s total.

At the same time, the development of domestic intelligent networked vehicles is also very rapid. The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology is also actively promoting test and demonstration work and has supported the establishment of 10 test and demonstration areas for intelligent-networked cars in Beijing, Shanghai, and Chongqing and etc.

Chongqing is a traditional manufacturing base, and the automobile and motorcycle industry is one of the main industries of Chongqing.
