On August 5, a six-axis industrial robot from a Chengdu’s robot factory was receiving performance testing in a lab of Chongqing Dexin Robot Testing Center Co., Ltd., located in Shuitu High-tech Eco-Town, Liangjiang New Area. Outside the lab, robots from more than 40 companies in Hangzhou, Shenzhen, and Harbin waited to be tested.
Laser tracking measurement
It seems that robots have more stringent exams than humans.

According to Wang Maolin, a robot test engineer, six-axis (arm-shaped) industrial robots are widely used in tasks such as handling, welding, and coating, to replace human laborers. Therefore, they need to move to designated positions accurately. In this regard, pose accuracy is precisely the evaluation criterion of a robot's ability to move accurately.
Position stabilization time quantifies how quickly a robot can stop at the attained pose, as tasks such as grabbing and welding are required to be performed in a static and stable state.“It’s a bit like a P.E. exam in which you are required to run fast with the correct running posture,” said Wang Maolin. Moreover, every movement of a robot is measured by a laser tracker in every micron and millisecond.
Building a special testing venue
In the NVH chamber (also called semi-anechoic chamber) specially built by Dexin, a test engineer was testing a drone.
The noise data of robots from the NVH chamber are highly reliable thanks to the design of absorption and non-reflecting of sound waves on all four walls and the ceiling of the chamber.
Moreover, there are 3-meter and 10-meter EMC chambers for testing the electromagnetic interference resistance and disturbance characteristics of robots and their components, respectively.
In the environmental lab of Dexin, other devices such as mycete test chamber, rapid temperature test chamber, salt spray tester, sand dust test chamber, and walk-in environmental chamber are used for testing robots and their components’ ability to work in extreme environments.
National Third-party Robot Inspection and Certification Agency
Robots from all over China come to Chongqing for testing, one after another because of the complete and advanced testing devices.
“By the end of this June, We have obtained the laboratory accreditation certificate by China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS), the qualification certificate and authorization certificate of inspection and testing organization issued by Certification and Accreditation Administration of the People’s Republic of China (CNCA), and the approval letter of certification organization and the right of use of the CR certification to provide the integrated service of robot inspection and certification,” said Ou Jiafu, General Manager of Dexin.
At present, aside from Chongqing, only three labs in Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Shenyang are designated as the National Robot Testing and Accreditation Center (NRTAC). Namely, Chongqing is the only national third-party robot testing and certification organization in Central and Western China. In the future, Dexin will provide support in enhancing core technology for the robot industry in Central and Western China.
The most complete test items
“Among the four centers in China, Shanghai and Chongqing offer the most complete test items,” said Ou Jiafu.
Robots are usually divided into three categories: industrial robots, specialized robots, and service robots. Dexin can provide test service for those three types. Dexin has infused 300 million yuan in building the center. It can offer testing services on such complete machines as industrial robots, service robots, specialized robots, drones and intelligent products, and components including servo motors, reducer gears, power batteries, controllers and communication devices, as well as precisely measuring molds, gauges, and large structures. The center is capable of testing on more than 100 standard items and over 300 test items (parameters).
The fact that 100 institutions in over 70 countries (regions) accept test reports issued by NRTAC will contribute to improving customers’ trust in products and product competitiveness.
