Chongqing- The 9th China Global Wood Trade Conference (GWT China) will take place in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality from September 6 to 8, according to Thursday’s press conference.

At this GWT conference, timber and wood products from more than 20 countries including Sweden, Finland, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Germany, France, Canada, the United States, New Zealand, Australia, and Malaysia will be on display. More than 400 Chinese and foreign timber industry representatives, wood products manufacturers, and representatives of local associations will gather in Chongqing to share their ideas to promote the development of the local timber industry.
The conference is hosted by the China Timber and Wood Products Distribution Association and supported by the Chongqing Municipal Commission of Commerce and the Yongchuan District People's Government.
Zhang Guo, head of the Yongchuan District, said that in the next five years, the district would build a modern high-tech wood industrial park integrating wood and wood products exhibition, wood processing and manufacturing, wood industry high-tech innovation, wood industry promotion, warehousing logistics, and distribution.
Statistics showed that global wood consumption increased by 2.1% in 2018. In 2019, China's wood consumption is expected to grow by about 7%.
By the end of June 2019, 21 timber companies had settled in Yongchuan, with a contractual investment of 3.05 billion yuan. These companies lay a solid foundation for the development of timber industry inYongchuan District.
