Paris – Chongqing Flight Promotion Held in Paris, France

On September 2, a Paris-Chongqing Flight Service Promotion was held in Paris. Chongqing Airport Group Co., Ltd. and Hainan Airlines introduced flight operation and cultural tourism and economic development in Chongqing to local agencies and media.

Chongqing and Paris are important node cities of the Belt and Road Initiative, have a long history and vibrant cultures, and are fashionable cities. The two share longstanding friendship. Paris-Chongqing service (the service for short) will further deepen economic, trade and cultural exchanges between them, and facilitate investment from European countries in Chongqing, tourism, and people studying in the other country.

China and France saw rapid growth in air transport recently, unveiling a promising future for all-round cooperation. Chinese people have selected France as the best tourism destination in Europe for consecutive five years. 2018 welcomed over 2.3 million tourists from China to France, who spent more than 4 billion euros there. In the same year, at least 3 million European tourists visited China. This service is expected to become a new bridge to link people in the two countries.

Edouard Mathieu, General Manager of Real Estate Development of Aeroports de Paris, said they valued tourists from Chongqing. It was great to see the ongoing increase of passengers taking the service. Moreover, he hoped more Chinese airlines could initiate such creative cooperation.

Hainan Airlines HU717 and HU718 were opened to the public in December 2018. The airline operated a Boeing 787 aircraft on the route with two round-trip flights per week. The first half of 2019 witnessed 52 round-trip flights, carrying 15,601 passengers in total. The trip takes off from Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 14:00 and lands at Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport at 6:20 the next day, with the duration of 10.5 hours. It takes off from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport at 1:50 and lands at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport at 7:50, with a duration of 12 hours (the above are local times).
