In 2011, the China Timber & Wood Products Distribution Association (CTWPDA) founded GWT China, in a bid to build a mutual-benefit platform for the global wood industry and further the healthy development of global trade of wood and wood products. After seven years of continuous growth, GWT China has played an indispensable role in China’s wood industry to face the world and for the global wood industry to enter China. Honored as “China’s best international timber trade exchange platform” by industry peers, it has served as the annual gathering of global timber traders in China.

Zhu Guangqian, the Chief Expert of CTWPDA, said that the China Railway Express is altering the pattern of China’s timber market. China has witnessed a total of 1,000 trains carrying timber cargo in 2018 and 900 in the first half of 2019. It is expected to exceed 1,700 trains throughout this year.

The organizing committee of GWT China said that Chongqing, as the only municipality directly under the Central Government in the central and western China, commands the convenient water and rail transportation conditions with the Yangtze River Channel and China Railway Express (Chongqing). It is also a crucial transit hub for timber consumption markets in Sichuan, Yunnan, and Guizhou. In addition to providing high-quality timber resources for local and surrounding furniture, wooden doors and other wood processing industries, the founding of GWT China will also facilitate Chongqing to work as the largest timber distribution center in Southwest China, thereby attracting a large number of quality investors for Chongqing’s wood industry.
