According to Chongqing Pilot Free Trade Zone Office  (CQFTZ Office for short) in Liangjiang New Area on September 11, Guoyuan Port was approved as one of the 1st batch of national logistics hubs, which will help Liangjiang New Area to integrate into the construction of the Belt and Road and to build itself into a highland of opening-up in inland China.

Guoyuan Port was approved as one of the 1st batches of national logistics hubs

An official announcement from the National Development and Reform Commission showed that 23 national logistics hubs were approved this time, including 10, 5, 7 and 1 in the eastern, central, western and northeastern regions respectively. They can be divided into six categories, including land ports, airports, ports, production services, commerce, and trade services, and land border ports.

Niu Xiandan, Deputy Director of CQFTZ Office, said that the success approval is conducive to further strengthening the status of Liangjiang New Area in Chongqing and even the western region as a logistics center and realizing opening-up to a greater extent.

As the only one port-type national logistics hub in the western region, Guoyuan Port is close to Yufu Industrial Park and other industrial parks. With high demand in logistics, it has the advantage of relatively low transport price, 5% and 10% that of the highway and the railway on average. In the future, Guoyuan Port will play a more prominent role in making Chongqing a national logistics hub in inland China that connects the Silk Road Economic Belt and the Yangtze River Economic Belt, further deepening inland opening-up and expanding international logistics platforms connecting Eurasia.

Liangjiang New Area will also further strengthen the businesses matchmaking, standards coordination, and information interconnection with other national logistics hubs as planned. It aims to speed up the construction of an efficient, convenient and netted logistics operation system featuring “channels + hubs + networks” that connect interior and exterior zones to lay a more solid foundation for Liangjiang New Area and even Chongqing.
