International Company Leaders Meet in Chongqing for Advisors Council

Chongqing—The Chongqing Mayor’s International Economic Advisory Council opening ceremony kicked off September 28th, with the introduction speech of Chongqing’s mayor Mr. Tang Liangzhi and Andreas Gerstenmayer, CEO and Chairman of the Management Board of AT&S.

“I know that it is a significant commitment, but I am prepared along with my fellow advisors to build upon the successes of the past and to fulfill the council’s mission to support the economic development of Chongqing by sharing our advice and international best practices, as a well as promoting Chongqing to the rest of the world,” he said. “I would like to commend the mayor of Chongqing, the municipality leaders and the government officials in this room who are providing that leadership for Chongqing.”

During his Keynote address, Chongqing’s Mayor Mr. Tang Liangzhi outlined the aim of the 14th annual meeting its past impacts as well as his hopes for the outcomes of cooperative future engagements and highlighted it’s importance. “Everyone has formed a set of recommendations. In the future, these proposals may become work programs in the to promote Chongqing's economic development.”

The theme of the meeting is to build an Inland International Logistics Hub which echos President Xi Jinping’s request to further Chongqing’s rapid development. “Build Chongqing into an international logistics hub and most open economy in inland China. Accelerate the development of land-sea and cross-border corridors to consolidate Chong’s role as an international logistics hub in inland china,” he said. The Chongqing Mayor’s International Economic Advisory Council September 27th – 28th, 2019 to address developmental strategies to reach those goals.

One focus was on improving the connective three-dimensional integrated transportation system of Chongqing which was divided into 4 main areas: railways, aviation, highway, and water transport. So far goals reached in Chongqing include a railway system operating over 2371 km, aviation forming “a big plus four small” airport pattern, highway more than 3,000 km with more than 1,000 km currently under construction, and water transport navigation mileage nearly 4,500 km.

The “land to sea” new corridor connects to 90 countries and 190 ports. The Chongqing Russia-Manchuria express has accumulated 954 operational lines. The China Railway Express over 20 operational lines connecting to more than 30 countries and 11 cities.
