On September 26, the State Grid Electric Vehicle Fast Charging Station officially opened at the southwest gate of the Chongqing Olympic Sports Center. As the present-day largest EV quick charging station in Southwest China, it can charge 180 electric vehicles (EV) at the same time with a total of 90 direct current charging piles.

It takes only about 20 minutes to charge from 20% to 80%, and 50 minutes to be fully charged. After scanning the QR code on the charging pile’s panel, the vehicle owner can choose the prepaid charging amount, such as RMB 10, RMB 20, and RMB 50. After finishing charging, the system will make an actual settlement and return the deducted amount to the owner immediately. The charging piles support various payment channels, such as the State Grid E-Charge app, WeChat Pay, Alipay, and Electric E Treasure. Depending on the periods, the electricity charge varies between RMB 0.6 and RMB 0.8 per KWH.

At present, the charging station can basically meet the needs of surrounding EVs. In the future, the State Grid Corporation of China and its partners will see more EV quick charging stations springing up according to actual conditions. On the same day, the Chongqing branch of the State Grid Electric Vehicle Service Co., Ltd. also reached a strategic cooperation agreement with the Chongqing Municipal Taxi Association. According to the agreement, the charging service of Chongqing’s first batch of pure electric taxis with green licenses will be undertaken by the State Grid’s intelligent IOV (Internet of Vehicles) platform for EVs.

As of August this year, the State Grid has built over 140 charging stations and more than 2,000 charging stations in the city. They are distributed in government public administrative areas, expressway service areas, commercial supporting areas as well as public parking lots and communities. The quick-charging network is composed of one loop line, and ten routes will further the full coverage of public charging facilities in 38 districts and counties in the city.
