Chongqing - International commercial mediation mainly refers to the arbitration of disputes involving international or foreign-related factors and arising from the business between natural persons, legal persons, or other organizations. It is regarded as the friendliest dispute resolution that both time and cost-effective.
To further deepen the communication and cooperation in the field of global commercial mediation, better service, and support the Belt and Road Initiative as well as the internationalization of enterprises operation, 2019 International Mediation Summit will be held in Chongqing from Oct. 16 to 18. The new release conference of the Summit was organized by the Information Office of Chongqing Municipal People's Government on Oct. 10.

Initiated by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade(CCPIT) in 2016, the International mediation Summit aims to promote the exchange and cooperation of mediation systems and experience among countries and analyze the development trend of mediation. The Summit has been successfully held in Beijing, Hangzhou, Changsha for three sessions, which has become an influential high-end brand of its kind.
The Summit is hosted by CCPIT and Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, organized by Legal Affairs Department of CCPIT, Commercial Law Center of CCPIT, Chongqing Sub-Council of CCPIT, supported by Supreme People's Court, Ministry of Justice, China Law Society, All China Lawyers Association, and the Hong Kong Department of Justice, co-organized by the Mediation Center of CCPIT, Chongqing Mediation Center of CCPIT, Inland - Hong Kong joint Mediation Center, Malaysia Lawyers Association, India Lawyers Association, the Asia-Pacific Law Association, Higher People's Court of Chongqing Municipality, Chongqing Justice Bureau, Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government, Southwest University of Political Science and Law , Chongqing Lawyers Asociation.
Under the theme of exploring the resolution mechanism to the dispute with international diversification, the summit sets up opening and signing ceremony, launching ceremony of CCPIT mediation website, the launching ceremony of China-Malaysia Commercial Mediation Center, the plenary session, closing ceremony, as well as arrange promotion meeting for Chongqing law-based business environment.
Mediators, arbitrators, judges, legal experts, lawyers, and business representatives from China, the United States, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands, Switzerland, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and other countries and regions will attend the Summit.
At present, as international economic and cultural exchanges are increasing, cross-rule, cross-law, and international cross-cultural disputes often occur. International commercial mediation, a flexible settlement mechanism for international commercial disputes, is gaining more and more attention. And the upcoming International Mediation Summit will shed the spotlight on the hot topic and add momentum to the development of international mediation in Chongqing.
