Twenty two Russian Enterprises Came to Chongqing for Cooperation Opportunities

On October 16, the China-Russia (Chongqing Liangjiang) Economic and Trade Cooperation Matchmaking Meeting kicked off in Liangjiang New Area. Representatives of the Commercial Representative Office of the Government of the Russian Federation in China and 22 enterprises from Russia gathered here in search of cooperation opportunities.

At the matchmaking meeting, 22 Russian food, medicine, and import and export enterprises conducted pitch roadshows in search of business partners. Iniushin Sergei, the commercial representative of the Russian Federation to China, said that the cooperation between China and Russia in the food sector was a bright spot and an important part of bilateral economic and trade cooperation. China is now the world’s largest food importer, while Russia has a growing supply of high-quality green food.

Recent years have witnessed frequent contact between Chongqing and Russia. In 2018, the imports and exports of the two sides totaled RMB 4.852 billion, a year-on-year increase of 18.8%. Moreover, there are 12 Russia-funded enterprises in Chongqing, and five registered Chongqing-funded enterprises have invested in Russia.

Zheng Hang, Executive Deputy Director of Chongqing Pilot Free Trade Zone Office in Liangjiang New Area, expressed that the matchmaking meeting helped for promoting the economic and trade contact between Liangjiang New Area and Russia, thus laying a solid foundation for Liangjiang New Area and even Chongqing to explore the Russian market, and further boosting Chongqing’s construction of an exemplary inland city for opening-up.
