New Products Highlight the GDP Growth of Chongqing in 3Qs

At the press conference held by the Information Office of Chongqing Municipal People’s Government on October 22, Chongqing Municipal Bureau of Statistics and National Bureau of Statistics Survey Office in Chongqing jointly announced Chongqing’s economic performance in the first three quarters of this year, with its GDP reaching RMB 1607.36 billion, a year-on-year increase of 6.3%.

By industry, the added value of its primary sector reached RMB 102.99 billion, up by 3.4% annually, that of its secondary industry reached RMB 631.26 billion, up by 6.5%, and that of its tertiary sector reached RMB 873.11 billion, up by 6.4%.

Among Chongqing’s nine pillar industries, the materials industry and the electronics industry achieved double-digit growth, with growth rates of 16.9% and 13.2%, respectively. The added value of the high-tech manufacturing industry and strategic emerging manufacturing industry increased by 12.1% and 11.2%, respectively.
