Chongqing- China’s entrepreneurs gathered in Southwest China’s Chongqing to discuss ways to promote high-quality development of small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) at the 2019 China SMEs Conference and the 13th China SMEs Day on October 27, 2019.
The 2019 China SMEs Conference and the 13th China SMEs Day takes place in Beibei District of Chongqing on October 27, 2019.
The event was a part of the 2019 Private Economy Week starting on October 30 in Beibei District. Its cohosts were the China Association of Small and Medium Enterprises (CASME) and the Chongqing Beibei District People’s Government. The conference has become an important platform for nationwide SMEs to exchange and cooperation on an annual basis.
Li Zibin, president of CASME delivered a keynote speech at the conference. He believes that China’s economic development has a huge market potential as a result of its large population. It is necessary for SMEs to figure out new economic growth points. Li elaborated on five aspects- infrastructures regarding livelihood, exploration of consumption, proper expansion of investment, participation in Rural Revitalization strategy and development of high technology.
“Chongqing attaches great importance to the development of private economy,” said Li Jing, member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Chongqing Municipal Committee and director of the United Front Work Department of Chongqing. The private economy achieved a generally stable growth while making further progress. In the first three quarters of this year, the added value of Chongqing private economy increased by 7.0% compared with the same period of last year, accounting for 51.6% of Chongqing regional GDP. SMEs represent a new vital force to promote the high-quality development of the private economy.
Zhou Xu, secretary of the CPC Beibei District Committee, said, “Beibei is the only demonstrative pilot district in Chongqing for the comprehensive reform of the private economy.” There were 14,110 newly-added marked entities in Beibei last year, with an annual growth of 61.2%.
At the conference, there were also unveiling ceremonies for the Service Center Chongqing, Health Management Branch, and Medicare and Old-care Service Work Commission of CASME.
