With Eco-environment Improved, Nanchuan Gathers Flocks of Wild Mandarin Ducks

Recently, groups of wild mandarin ducks played in and above Yuquan River, Shanwangping Town, Nanchuan District. The mandarin duck is a national second-class protected animal, which is very picky about the water quality of its habitat. It migrates from the north to the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River and the southeast and southwest regions in winter every year.

Since last year, there have been wild mandarin ducks living around Yuquan River in winter, with the number increasing from more than 10 to over 50 this year. In recent years, Nanchuan District strictly implements the river chief system and strengthens ecological and environmental protection, so that the water quality is getting better, thus attracting a variety of migratory waterfowl to stay and live.
