World’s Largest Hot Pot in Second China International Import Expo

On November 6, the world’s largest hotpot from Chongqing was made available to the Intangible Cultural Heritage Hall at the second China International Import Expo (CIIE).

The name – the world’s largest hotpot – comes from the fact that Dezhuang Group won the Guinness World Records. It is a 10-meter diameter, 1.06-meter high, and 13-ton pot.

This year’s hotpot is different from that before, with exquisite models engraved on the pot to show the history of Chongqing’s urban evolution. Moreover, the two-flavor hotpot shows the confluence of the Yangtze River and Wujiang River at Chaotianmen. The 56 small pots engraved with the names of 56 ethnic groups around the outer edge symbolize that all the ethnic groups make joint efforts to create a better future.

At the opening ceremony, attending guests gathered to enjoy the hot pot and toasted to hope Chongqing hotpot to go global.

According to Li Dejian, Honorary President of Chongqing Hotpot Association and Chairman of Dezhuang Group, Chongqing hot pot is under rapid growth, forming an industrial system with categories, values, brands, and culture. There are over 100,000 hotpot stores in Chongqing, with an annual turnover of more than RMB 400 billion.

As one of Chongqing’s symbols, hotpot is also a bridge connecting Chongqing with the world. This time, the “world’s largest hotpot,” as a representative of Chongqing hotpot, will make more people feel the charm of Chongqing.
