Chongqing Talents Conference: Women Scientists Share Their Views on a Smart Era

Chongqing - The forum for Women Scientists and the Smart Era opened in Southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality, November 11, 2019. Its co-organizers were the Chongqing Association for Science and Technology and the Chongqing Women’s Association for Science and Technology. The thematic forum was a sub-event of the 2019 Chongqing Talents Conference.

The report by Wang Xiaoyun, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Science and Professor at Tsinghua University, was about Hash Function and blockchain technology. It was divided into three parts- the importance of cryptology, Hash Function, and blockchain technology. The report concluded, “It is urgently necessary for our cyberspace security governance to deploy a password protection system and formulate relevant standards and specifications. Moreover, training a large number of cyberspace security composite talents is urgent to promote the development of cyberspace.”

On behalf of the China Women’s Association for Science and Technology, Wang Zhizhen, Academician of Chinese Academy of Science, addressed at the forum and said, “As the permanent site of the Smart China Expo, Chongqing sets an example for economic transformation for innovation-driven development based on big data and smart technology.” She also mentioned that 40% of human resources in China’s science and technology sector are women, which have become an indispensable part of national development in science and technology as well as society and the economy.
Zhang Xuan, Director of the Standing Committee of Chongqing People’s Congress, said, “A smart era brings about more development space for women.” The day before the forum, some female scientists went to a university in Chongqing and shared their stories in the process of innovation and entrepreneurship.

Apart from the report and speeches, there were reports on Women Power and Their Reproduction Health, New Energy Vehicle and Smart Development of Power Grid, and Smart Human-Computer Interaction. Female scientists in China fully participate in scientific and technological innovation as well as social development. The forum aims to attract more talents for Chongqing and China at large.
