Chongqing - November 13th was the conclusion of the three-day World Heritage trip that ended at the Dazu Rock Carvings in Dazu district of Chongqing. The group arrived in the morning to tour the Dazu Rock Carving Museum and then on to see the rock carvings themselves.
A place of great history
As the visitors made their way through the museum, they were accompanied by a local guide who shared information about the stones and artifacts kept in the museum. The visitors and travel agents were absorbing the new knowledge as they walked through the halls getting a closer look at some of the historic carvings, centuries old.
After the museum, attention was turned to the rock carvings themselves, and all the history and significance behind them. Dazu Rock Carving is a world cultural heritage site and one of the eight famous Buddhist carvings in the world. It is the catch-all term of all Buddhist carvings located in the Dazu district of the southwest part of China. So far, there are 75 grottos announced as heritage units. There is significance to all of the carvings in the complex and as the crowd slowly moved through the area, they listened with attention to the historic details and facts being shared by the local guides.

Returning to Chongqing
After a couple of hours of exploring the rock carvings, it was time to return to Chongqing and prepare for the upcoming Chongqing Global Travel Agents Conference, which will start tomorrow at the Chongqing International Convention Center in Nan'an District of Downtown Chongqing. The two-and-a-half-hour bus ride was spent making new friends and contacts among the many travel agents, as well as catching up on a bit of rest from the three days of traveling. Upon returning to the hotel the visitors were treated to a banquet dinner hosted by the organizing committee and the Chongqing local government.
