Rongchang: Accelerating the High-quality Development of Its Ceramic Industry

Chongqing — On November 30, the opening ceremony of the 2019 Chongqing Belt and Road International Ceramics Forum was successfully held in the Rongchang district of SW China’s Chongqing.

To absorb the new technology applications of the ceramics industry and improve the international competitiveness of the Chinese ceramics industry, the forum has invited about 400 ceramic masters and experts from home and abroad. Among them, there are more than 100 foreign experts from Japan, South Korea, Poland, and other countries, and academicians, experts, scholars in the domestic ceramic industry and economic field.

At the opening ceremony, focusing on the history, quality, industrial development, talent training, and innovation of Rongchang ceramics, Rongchang also released a special report on how to accelerate the high-quality growth of its ceramic industry. Besides, the report conveys the district's strong determination to inherit and innovate its ceramics and make it the ceramic capital of China.
The forum also released the "the development plan of Chongqing ceramics industrial park" and "Chongqing ceramics industry policy." Among them, it announced that Chongqing ceramic industrial park has a planned land area of 1296.06 hectares, mainly focusing on the three industrial sectors to build a featured ceramic industry ecosystem. Also, Rongchang district provides a comprehensive policy to guarantee ceramic enterprise's development environment, efficient utilization of ceramic resources, and ceramic talent cultivation, so as to promote the upgrading of its ceramic industry and high-quality development.

In addition, 25 projects were signed on the forum, with an amount of 32.33 billion yuan. These include the "ceramic capital of western China" project approved by the Rongchang district and China ceramic industry association and the "industry-university-research cooperation" project signed by the Rongchang district and Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute.
"Taking the opportunity of holding the international ceramic forum, Rongchang will adhere to creative transformation and innovative development, focus on building Chongqing ceramic industrial park, strengthen foreign exchanges and cooperation, and constantly expand the international influence of Rongchang ceramics." Chang Xiaoyong, director of the management committee of the Rongchang high-tech zone, said. He also told us, by 2030, the total industrial output value of Rongchang ceramics will reach 45 billion yuan, and the industrial park will be built into the most influential advanced ceramics base in China, and Rongchang will be built into the capital of China's ceramics.

The ceramic expo center has collected more than 100 ceramic relics from the paleolithic age to the modern age.

The expo center is hosted by the Rongchang district government and built by Chongqing Weimei Ceramics. Huang Jianping, the chairman of Weimei Ceramics, said, "in addition to inheriting and protecting the world's ceramic products, we also hope to develop ceramic skills, to spread the broad and profound ceramic culture in the future."
