Driving route: Main Urban Areas—Huilong Manor—Longtan Lake—Simian Mountain
Huilong Manor: The mysterious and tranquil mansion hiding in the mountains enjoys a raft of treasures. It, with three courtyards, covers a building area of over 20,000 m2, equivalent to two standard international courses. Three hundred twenty-eight pillars, of which each weighs 5,000 kg, support the entire building.
Longtan Lake: This is a natural lake that will glisten in the sunlight. Four towering peaks stand around the Longtan Lake, and there is a monkey park with around 300 residents. It is also an ideal destination for fishing.
Simian Mountain: In early winter, Simian Mountain becomes a misty fairyland. Visitors can take pictures beside the famous heart-shaped waterfall of the Wangxiangtai Waterfall without being disturbed.
Plan B: Tour for Culture and Landscapes
Dafo Temple
Driving route: Main Urban Areas—Former Residence of Marshal Nie Rongzhen—Dafo Temple—Shisun Mountain
Former Residence of Marshal Nie Rongzhen: It stands against the Dingshan Mountain and faces the Yangtze River. Young Nie Rongzhen lived here for 15 years.
Dafo Temple: It sits among flourishing woods and tall bamboos in Jiangjin and owns the largest Statue of Avalokiteshvara Stepping on Lotus Pedestal existing in China, which is reputed as the No. 1 Giant Buddha along the Yangtze River.
Shisun Mountain: Apart from cultural relics, Shisun Mountain also features captivating landscapes: green hills shrouded in an ethereal mist.
Plan C: Tour for History
Baisha Ancient Town.
Driving route: Main Urban Areas—Jukui Academy—Baisha Ancient Town—Baisha Film and Television Series Making Base
Tips: Visitors can take No. 5612 train at the Chongqing Railway Station to Baisha. It leaves at 10:06 and arrives at 12:33.
Jukui Academy: It is the only academy-style school in China with a history of 28 years longer than that of Peking University. The courtyard building in a style popular in the Qing Dynasty stands on the Heishi Mountain and is also the best-preserved garden building in China.
Baisha Ancient Town: Although the Town is quiet and natural, the Baisha Film and Television Series Making Base is crowded with casts and crews. TV series Wanton and Luxurious Living and Sister Jiang were filmed here. Small trains commonly seen in the old days run in the Base.
Plan D: Mysterious and Adventurous Tour
Ladder of Love
Driving route: Main Urban Areas—Mojiagou Ancient Great Wall—Zhongshan Ancient Town—Ladder of Love
Tips: The elder and kids are not recommended to choose this Plan for it requires a long-time walk.
Mojiagou Ancient Great Wall: It stretches for 3 kilometers, of which about one-third journey is for hiking. Zhongshan Ancient Town hides in the mountains. Visitors can find beautiful creeks, distinctive stilted buildings, and delicious food there. Smoked bacon is worth trying.
Ladder of Love: In the 1950s, 20-year-old Liu Guojiang fell in love with 30-year-old widow Xu Chaoqing. To get rid of gossip, they settled down in the remote forested mountain. To ensure his wife’s safety when she went outside, Liu had been building stone ladders on cliffs for his whole life.
