Danzishi Old Street, A Good Place for Watching Lanterns

The Early Spring Lantern Festival, themed with “Thousands of Lanterns and Masses of Blessings,” was officially launched at Danzishi Old Street, Nan’an District, on the evening of December 7, becoming an excellent destination for the public and tourists.

On the evening of the lighting ceremony, a captivating Chinese-style dance performance kicked off here.

The festival combined the unique landscape features of the street, such as slopes, covered bridges, and courtyard buildings. According to the terrain, nine themed lantern sets were built near courtyard buildings. On the Qingyun Bridge, under countless star lights, the sails on both sides swayed in the wind, and 40 big fish lanterns roamed between them, demonstrating an attention-grabbing view of fish leaping into blue clouds. In the streets and alleys near BONA Palace, over 600 new Chinese-style multi-colored lanterns were collocated overhead with scores of star lights, looking like a star river with a riot of colors.

On the evening of the lighting ceremony, a captivating Chinese-style dance performance kicked off here. Thousands of belles in Han Chinese costumes carrying lanterns gathered in the street to enjoy the imposing scenery of the festival, reproducing the scene thousands of years ago.

The festival will last until the Lantern Festival, during which diverse and varied activities are available to citizens, such as the garden lantern party for thousands of people and the Han Chinese costume market.
