As one of the hottest cities on Douyin (Chinese TikTok), Chongqing now has an increasing number of popular tourist destinations, including the must-visit Hongyadong, Ciqikou, Liziba, and more. On December 15, Douyin launched a list of Chongqing’s hot scenic spots, which were ranked by the interest index of its users in the past month. Danzishi Old Street, Mexin Wine Town, and Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park top the list. Beside Mexin Wine Town in Linshi Town, Fuling District and Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park, the other eight scenic spots among the top 10 ones are located in the main urban area, such as Danzishi Old Street in Nan’an District, Chongqing Happy Valley in Liangjiang New Area and Eling Park in Yuzhong District.
Danzishi Old Street
Landmark Riverside Danzishi Old Street in the first place lies along with the Nanbin Road. As the Phase II project of Landmark Riverside Park, the one-kilometer-long Danzishi Old Street officially opened on June 1, 2018. It was once a famous port in Southwest China, boasting such cultural sites as the French Naval Military Camp and Family Wang’s Courtyard. Danzishi Old Street was China’s first 4A scenic spot to receive the honor with the theme of port culture and Grade 9 hill slope forms.
Mexin Wine Town
Mexin Wine Town in the second place is situated on the west bank of Lixiang Creek in Fuling District. Adjacent to Linshi Ancient Town and Lixiang Creek and 50km away from the main urban area, it blends Chinese and Western cultural features and follows the theme of Famous Town of Gentlemen, Romantic Lixiang Creek. Featuring the wine culture, Mexin Wine Town embraces such tourist attractions as Xiangxi Covered Bridge, Wine Center, and Characteristic Folk Houses. It also owns an ecological sightseeing park, an industrial display park, and a vineyard that covers an area of more than 66 hectares, making it ideal for leisure, entertainment, and sightseeing. Jigong Mountain, next to Mexin Wine Town and on the west bank of Lixiang Creek, comprises activities in the mountain and activities on the water. There are such recreation facilities as Double-deck Luxurious Rotating Horse, Controllable Plane, and Corsair in the mountain as well as Water Walking Ball, Water Bicycle, Speedboat, and Water Wedding on the water.
Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park
Wansheng Ordovician Theme Park in the third-place stands in the core scenic spot of Heishan-Shilin Scenic Spot in Wansheng District and at the central node of Wansheng Tourism Ring Road. It’s 110km away from the main urban area of Chongqing and 21km from the urban area of Wansheng. With the marvelous spectacle –there are stones in the forest, trees on the rocks, and symbiosis between the trees and stones, with the park is known as the greenstone forest. It features the sky gallery, which is shaped like an “A.” The bridge is covered with transparent glass and is located on a cliff nearly 300 meters high.
As Chongqing gets more and more popular online, more scenic spots around downtown Chongqing and even in suburban districts/counties have been included in the must-visit list of tourists in addition to well-known Hongyadong, Ciqikou, Jiefangbei, and Chaotianmen.
