Downtown Chongqing’s Yinglong Lake National Wetland Park to Open Soon

Located at the junction of Huimin Street in Ba’nan District and Yinglong Town in Nan’an District, the Park, starting from the dam of Yinglong Lake Water Conservancy Project in the north, and ending at the newly-built mountain ring road along the park of East Huimin Street in the south, is bounded by the Belt Expressway in the West. It is overwhelmed with beautiful scenery all year-round, such as bougainvillea speetabilis, crape myrtle, prunus lannesiana, hemerocallis middendorffi, and sweet-scented osmanthus.

With a total area of 3.64 square kilometers, the Park is the largest national wetland park in downtown Chongqing. It consists of wetland conservation knowledge area, rural sightseeing area, cultural experience area, green ecological agriculture area, and wetland conservation area. In addition to the previous 423 plant varieties and 151 aquatic and terrestrial vertebrates, there are 15 new plant varieties and four new vertebrate species.

Taking the wetland ecosystem restoration and the protection of water resources of Yinglong Lake as the starting point, the Park, featuring wetland ecological culture and relying on eco-tourism and knowledge publicity, integrates the conservation of biological species, wetland science research and popularization education, wetland eco-tourism and sightseeing.
