Chongqing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection Opens 30 Self-Service Channels

During the Spring Festival travel rush, peak hours of the outbound/inbound passenger flow at Chongqing are respectively from 22:00 (Jan. 20-26) to 01:30 on the next day and from 22:00 (Jan. 29-Feb. 1) to 03:00 on the next day, with the expected passenger flow volume of about 2,500, according to Chongqing General Station of Exit and Entry Frontier Inspection on January 20. Chongqing takes various measures to ensure smooth customs clearance with no more than 30 minutes’ waiting time for Chinese citizens during this period.

The General Station opens 30 self-service channels for the travel rush, which allows passengers to complete the inspection procedures through three steps, namely scanning the boarding pass, swiping the passport, and taking a fingerprint and taking a photo. In this way, the customs clearance could take as little as 10 seconds, one-fifth of the manual inspection time. Meanwhile, the General Station will issue traffic warning information in a timely manner, inform travel agencies to organize tourists to the airport in advance, and send more personnel in advance to help passengers check-in, to reduce the passenger flow during rush hours and ensure no more than 30 minutes’ waiting for customs clearance.

In addition, Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport’s Immigration Inspection Hall has been decorated with red lanterns, red firecrackers, and Chinese knots, creating a healthy Spring Festival atmosphere. “We would offer inbound passengers a cup of ‘Laoying tea’ of Chongqing so that they can feel the warmth of home and the flavor of the New Year as soon as they arrive at the airport,” said the person in charge.
