Chongqing - At 10 pm on Feb. 20, after 30 hours’ rush transportation, a batch of medical supplies, including facial masks and forehead thermometer, donated by Chinese in Australia arrived at Jiangbei International Airport from Sydney. Launched by Dream Abroad Education and Migration Consulting Service Co., Ltd, Alumni Association of Sichuan International Studies University (SISU) in Australia, Alumni Association of Chongqing Bashu Secondary School in Australia, the donation has been successfully received by SISU and Chongqing Bashu Secondary School to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19.

On Feb. 25, iChongqing reached Mr. Chen Daiyong, who is one of the donation initiators in Australia and the general manager of Dream Abroad Education and Migration Consulting Service Co., Ltd, to share more details on their efforts to help the home country during the epidemic.

"The Chinese community around me in Australia is closely following the epidemic circumstances in China. We are concerned and want to help," said Mr. Chen. Since the outbreak of COVID-19 in China, Mr. Chen, along with his family and friends, took an active part in the donation activities among the Chinese Community in Australia. "At the news of Wuhan lockdown, we started collecting medical supplies such as forehead thermometers and facial masks, which were in shortage back in China," Mr. Chen told iChongqing. Although they met difficulties in collecting a fair amount of medical supplies in Australia, Mr. Chen and the community managed to raise over 3000 facial masks and a batch of forehead thermometers ready for shipment.
"It took 30 hours for this batch of medical supply to arrive in the hands of the recipients in Chongqing from Sydney." Said Mr. Chen excitingly. "Any minor mistake among the whole process would have led to the failure of arrival." He emphasized. At that time being, many flights were canceled between China and Australia. Finding an available flight was extremely difficult. Then China Southern Airlines decided to help ship the medical supplies for free. Two passengers on the flight took the initiative to help the donation go through customs procedures. "The successful rush transportation is due to the joint efforts of all the people involved, the staff from China Southern Airline, Foreign Affairs Office of Chongqing Municipal People'sPeople's Government, Chongqing Charity Association, SISU, Chongqing Bashu Secondary School and many more. Everybody was standing-by both on-line and off-line to safeguard the donation to arrive safely." Mr. Chen said touchingly. "The whole process demonstrates the solidarity of the Chinese people. I'm confident that China can win this fight against COVID-19 with such unite and devotion from its nationals."
Mr. Chen's business in international education has also been affected by the epidemic. "Many Chinese students failed to make it back to Australia on time to continue their study. My company has been helping them out by providing them with the solutions and latest information about Australia's policies and regulations concerning the epidemic," said Mr. Chen, he hopes to help more people affected by the epidemic.
