COVID-19 Update: Global Confirmed Case Exceed 150,000, Chongqing Has No Hospitalized Patient

  • There are now more than 153,517 confirmed cases globally, and 5,735 people have lost their lives, according to the COVID-2019 situation report on March 15 by the World Health Organization. Outside of China, there are 72,469 confirmed confirmed (10,955 new) including 2,531 deaths (333 new) in 143 countries/territories/ areas (nine new).
  • Nine countries outside of China report over 1,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of March 15, according to the WHO.
  • A total of 16 new confirmed cases of novel coronavirus infection and 14 deaths on the Chinese mainland were reported on Sunday, according to the National Health Commission Monday. Moreover, 838 people were discharged from the hospital after recovery on Sunday.
  • The overall confirmed cases on the Chinese mainland had reached 80,860 by the end of March 15. A total of 3,213 people had died of COVID-19, and altogether 67,749 people had been discharged from hospital after recovery.

Sunday had no newly established case in Chongqing for the twentieth consecutive day, and one more patient recovered and released from the hospital.

Chongqing- As of 24:00 local time on March 15, Chongqing had reported no confirmed cases currently hospitalized without any severe case or critical case, including six deaths, and 570discharged patients after recovery, according to the Chongqing Municipal Health Commission Monday. All those cases had totaled 576 confirmed cases infected with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as of the end of Sunday in Chongqing.

Sunday had no newly established case in Chongqing for the twentieth consecutive day, and one more patient recovered and released from the hospital. A total of 23,716 people who had close contacts with COVID-19 patients have been traced, 23,644 people have been released from medical observation, and 72 people are under medical observation.

During the spring farming period from late February to June, the fertilizer consumption is in Chongqing expected to be 1.5 million tons, according to Monday’s press conference on COVID-19 prevention and control. Statistics show that the municipality’s existing inventory is about 730,000 tons, which will be able to guarantee the demand for fertilizer for spring farming. Moreover, 403 thousand sets of cultivated land preparation and field management machinery have been put into use, completing the cultivation covering an area of 5.11 million mu (about 3406.6 km2), to reduce labor and people gathering.

By the end of Sunday, 148 confirmed cases, including four deaths, had been reported in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR), 10 confirmed cases in the Macao SAR, and 59 in Taiwan, including one death. A total of 84 patients in Hong Kong, 10 in Macao, and 20 in Taiwan had been discharged from the hospital after recovery.

According to the official website of the Foreign Ministry, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Sunday that China will continue to enforce rigorous and effective measures at home, and at the same time, actively share the experience with other countries and help those in need as its ability permits. He spoke with Teodoro Locsin Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Philippines, on the phone Sunday. China will do its utmost to help the country.

Wang Yi also talked with the Spanish Foreign Minister Arancha González Laya the same day. The Chinese side will continue to do everything possible to protect the health and safety of the Spanish people in China and hopes that the Spanish government will place high importance on the health and safety of all Chinese nationals in Spain, and provide them with necessary medical support.
