On March 25, Chongqing Municipal People’s Government submitted the report on 2019 environmental protection to the 16th session of the 5th Standing Committee of Chongqing Municipal People’s Congress for review. The report says this year, Chengdu-Chongqing area will work on ecology building and environmental protection, unify related standards and develop one negative list for two cities.
Chongqing is going to spare no effort to build the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle, attract people living in ecological function zones to cities, and create a new pattern prioritizing the development of competitive areas and protection of ecological function zones.
Chengdu-Chongqing area will also build ecological corridors along the Yangtze River, Jialing River, Wujiang River, Minjiang River, Fujiang River and Tuojiang River, deepen cooperation in cross-drainage basin and -area ecological protection, and figure out ways to set up normal cross-area eco-compensation mechanisms.
Chengdu and Chongqing are going to enhance comprehensive treatment on water and soil loss in the Three Gorges Reservoir Region, intensify cross-industry coordinated treatment against pollution, and perfect joint prevention and control mechanism against air and water pollution.
The two cities plan to unify environmental protection standards and develop one negative list for two cities. They will share information on environmental credit, cooperate to build the environmental credit system, support the development of environmental protection industries and projects relevant to environmental protection and ecological restoration.
