The First Flight from Chongqing Carrying 38 Passengers Safely to Wuhan after Its Reopening

At 7:28, April 8, the safe landing of West Air’s Flight PN6219 at Tianhe International Airport in Wuhan, Hubei Province marked the formal resumption of the domestic airline network in Hubei Province, which is convenient for passengers to leave or arrive at Hubei. It is also the first regular passenger flight in Chongqing to operate in Wuhan after the release of Wuhan Tianhe International Airport.

At 6: 25 a.m., West Air’s Flight PN6219 took off from Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport with 38 passengers. Before boarding, the temperature of the passengers was checked, and the passengers were reminded to pay attention to personal health protection and reduce the number of people gathered by broadcasting. The crew wore protective equipment throughout the flight and cleaned the washroom and the like every one hour. After the flight was over, professionals carried out preventive disinfection of the cabin, boarding ladder, covered bridge and other personnel activity areas, and replaced the air filter of the aircraft circulation fan according to the work flow. What’s more, various on-line and off-line means made it convenient for passengers traveling to Hubei to fill in health declaration forms.

In addition, at 7:24 a.m., April 8, China Eastern’s Flight MU2527, carrying 49 passengers, flew from Wuhan to Sanya. It was also the first domestic passenger flight resumed at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport 76 days after the suspension of commercial passenger flights due to the COVID-19. According to the VariFlight data, Wuhan Tianhe International Airport planned 233 flights on April 8, including 111 outbound flights and 122 inbound ones.

On March 27, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) issued the Notice on Resuming Civil Aviation Flights in Hubei Province, which clearly stated that domestic passenger flights at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport would be resumed from 00:00, April 8 across the country. However, according to the notice of the CAAC, due to the need of epidemic prevention and control, airports in Hubei including Wuhan Tianhe International Airport shall not resume flights to foreign countries and China’s Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan for the moment. Passenger flights to and from Beijing (including stopover flights) shall not be resumed for the time being.

Changes of flight taking in Wuhan

Passengers departing from Wuhan need to scan the QR code of “Wuhan Epidemic Fighting” before entering the terminal, and are allowed to pass with the green code.

At the entrance of the terminal, passengers are required to receive “non-contact” body temperature check. If the body temperature exceeds 37.3℃, they will be handled in accordance with the relevant regulations of the provincial and municipal epidemic prevention departments.

At the check-in counter, passengers shall also show a green code and valid boarding documents, and fill in relevant forms or issue relevant documents in accordance with the epidemic prevention requirements of the airline or the destination city. The flight formalities shall be completed after the staff checks them out.

When passing through the security check, in addition to valid flight documents and boarding certificates, the green code shall also be presented again to the security inspector.

For passengers arriving at Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, if they are domestic inbound passengers, they need to scan the QR code “Wuhan Epidemic Fighting” in the baggage extraction area and exit with the green code or health code of other provinces or municipalities. Passengers who have lived or traveled abroad within the past 14 days also need to scan the QR code of “Epidemic Assistance” and voluntarily report relevant information to the staff at the declaration point.
