On April 15, the Chongqing Urban Administration released that the Chongqing Landscape and Gardening Research Institute and Chengdu Park City Plant Science Research Institute recently signed a strategic cooperation framework agreement in Chengdu. The two sides will carry out in-depth, innovative cooperation around seven tasks as follows.
In terms of scientific research and innovation, the two sides will establish a gardening S&T innovation center of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle. In this way, concerted efforts will be made to expedite basic research, cultivate S&T talent teams, construct regional innovation systems, and popularize S&T knowledge, thus stimulating the development of urban ecological construction.
Regarding talent exchanges, the two sides will carry out innovative personnel exchange activities with rich content and diverse forms.
Concerning platform construction, the gardening S&T innovation center of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle will serve as the backbone. The two sides will apply for setting up high-level technological platforms, such as key laboratories and engineering technology centers, to create a research platform co-built and shared by both sides.
As for special scientific research, attempts will be made to carry out scientific research in diverse fields. This includes gardening and horticulture, plants (green space) and massive health, introduction, development and application of special plant resources, intelligent management and big data of urban gardening, characteristic parks, three-dimensional greening, urban ecological restoration and protection, and green prevention and control of urban gardening. The aim is to foster scientific research achievements with the characteristics of the Chengdu-Chongqing region.
As regards cooperation in science popularization, the two sides will strengthen the exchange and cooperation between their science popularization bases, further the integration of the science popularization industry, and jointly advance the innovation and R&D of science popularization activities, thereby realizing co-research, co-building, and sharing. In addition to that, consequential Hands-on Inquiry-Based Learning (HIBL) activities of gardening science popularization will come to fruition in the Chengdu-Chongqing region, in an effort to create a first-class science popularization activity brand.
With respect to boosting achievements transformation, the gardening S&T achievements will exert their role in propelling the construction of the park city and ecological garden city. Under this premise, the two sides will effectively give play to the role of pilot application and technical support services of gardening S&T achievements in urban construction. They will also jointly carry out the transformation of S&T achievements and hammer at creating more social, economic, and ecological benefits while spurring urban ecological construction.
With regard to promoting international cooperation, the two sides will take the opportunity of jointly carrying out research, demonstration, and promotion of horticultural therapy and nature education to advance the international cooperation with foreign universities, research institutions, and non-governmental organizations. Moreover, they intend to jointly drive the in-depth integration of landscape gardening and massive health industries and prompt the development of a “Healthy China” strategy.
