Chongqing and Sichuan to Develop a Leading Area of E-sports Industry in Western China

Zhongxian County Government has signed a strategic agreement with Sichuan E-sports Association on in-depth cooperation in e-sports talent cultivation, online live streaming, and other fields to advance the integrated development of Sichuan and Chongqing's e-sports industries.

Positioning Zhongxian County as a key digital content industry cluster, Chongqing has worked out a development plan of "Three Areas and Six Parks" for it. Especially, Three Areas refer to E-sports Industry Area, Auxiliary Living Area, and Riverside Entertainment Area, and Six Parks, namely Competition Park, Incubation Park, Education Park, Equipment Park, Experience Park, and Science Popularization Park.

As planned, Zhongxian County built China's largest e-sports hall (Three Gorges Harbor E-sports Hall) in 2017 and held large e-sports events like CMEG (Chinese Mobile ESport Game Event) and TGEG (Yangtze River Three Gorges E-sports Games) here. Last August, the project of Chongqing Digital Industry Vocational and Technical College broke ground, marking the full commencement of the construction of the Education Park. By this October, the first phase of the college will be completed and put into use.

"Through this strategic cooperation agreement with Sichuan E-sports Association, we hope to combine the strengths of Chongqing and Sichuan, and realize the integrated development of our e-sports industries," said an official from Zhongxian government. With the signing of the agreement, the two parties will cooperate in holding comprehensive e-sports events in Sichuan and Chongqing, developing a professional talent pool for e-sports industry and conducting in-depth cooperation in digital industries like games, animation, and online live streaming, in a bid to develop a leading area of the e-sports industry in western China, added he.
