Chongqing to Build the Railway-based Main Urban Area

At the symposium for Chongqing's main urban area, it is clearly proposed to vigorously promote the connectivity of all districts within the main urban area and to build the "one-day life circle" and "one-hour commuting circle." Among them, an important part is to promote the integration of trunk railways, intercity railways, regional railways, and urban rail transit, so as to build a "railway-based main urban area."

Chongqing Rail Transit.

Transportation Development & Investment Group and Chongqing Rail Transit Design and Research Institute (CRTDRI) revealed in an interview with reporters that Chongqing would be built from the following six aspects: improving the urban development plan, building more than 1,000 kilometers of an urban rail network, upgrading the intelligent operation service system, building an industrial rail chain of one hundred billion yuan, shaping a beautiful city card, and exploring the ecological business model.

It is expected that by 2035, the minimum rail transit departure interval in Chongqing's main urban area will be less than 2 minutes, the share ratio of rail transit will account for more than 80% of the public transportation, and the density of urban rail network will increase from the current 0.66 km/sq.km. to 1.41km/ sq.km.

Rail transit is one of the important directions for the development of modern metropolitan transportation. To this end, Chongqing will establish an integrated transportation system, namely to realize the multi-line connection and seamless transfer of aviation, high-speed rail, city express, rail transit, and buses. It specifically includes optimization of the transfer and shuttle bus lines existing or under construction by renovating and adding new bus stops, and adding tracks and bus corridors. Planning, implementation, and operation of the transfer facilities with the construction of new lines, so that the transfer distance between the tracks and the bus can be controlled within 50 meters.

Meanwhile, rail transit trains will be run across lines and run in a combination of fast and slow trains to meet passengers' different travel needs.
