Li Lisi: the 1st iPhone Photography Winner from Kaizhou District

Speaking of the mobile photography competition, IPPA (iPhone Photography Awards) is one of the most popular competitions for photography enthusiasts around the world. The competition for IPPA, known as the "Oscar Academy Awards of the mobile photography circle," has been held for 13 years. Every year the best photos will be selected from works submitted by iPhone photographers from 140 countries and regions worldwide. Through several rounds, the Panel will choose the Photographers of the Year and Category Winners.

The 2020 Competition for IPPA has published its list of winners recently. In the list of winners, a young photographer from China aroused wide concern. His work, The Surface of the Alien Planet, was awarded the first prize of the nature category. His name is Li Lisi, a native of Kaizhou.

Li Lisi, born in 1991, graduated from Beijing Jiaotong University, majoring in architecture. He is an independent photographer who loves photographing by cellphone in his spare time.

"Cellphone is convenient and helps me create," Li said that he likes photographing while traveling, and he has set foot on countries such as Sweden, Italy, and Iceland in recent years.

The award-winning work, The Surface of the Alien Planet, was photographed at Skogafoss in southern Iceland in 2018. In this photo, he created a pure and straightforward artistic conception through the freehand expression of Chinese ink painting from a unique angle.

Li has been taking pictures with cellphones since 2016. He takes on average over 20,000 photos a year, but only about 20 photos satisfied him, Li said.
