First Sichuan-Chongqing Inter-provincial Bus Route Opens

An inter-provincial bus route opened on August 19, linking Zhutuo, the sub-center of Yongchuan District in Chongqing, and Luzhoudong Railway Station in Yunjin, Sichuan. The bus runs about 60 minutes to finish the 30-kilometer journey, benefiting roughly 250,000 people living nearby.

This is a practical measure to implement the “1+6” cooperation framework of transportation integrated development in the Sichuan-Chongqing region, which is a part of the construction of the Chengdu-Chongqing economic circle.

The two-way inter-provincial bus route is the first one of its kind opened by enterprises from Sichuan and Chongqing.

According to Chongqing Long-Distance Car Transport (Group) Co., Ltd., the two places were not connected by buses. People have to get off at the boundary of Sichuan or Chongqing, then walk or ride a motorcycle for another five kilometers to get to the other side to continue their journey. It was quite inconvenient.

Sichuan and Chongqing will put three buses respectively in this route and make adjustments later on. The ticket prices are varied based on the distance. During the trial run, the starting fare is 2 yuan, and the full one-way fare 8 yuan.
